Held on 7-8 February 2023 in Milan, hosted by Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologicche Mario Negri IRCCS.
The event was the starting point for a large project featuring tiny elements: Advanced Nanomaterials (Ad-NMs).
The 12 international partners involved in the project (Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Ireland, Bulgaria, and China) met to discuss standards for the characterization of Ad-NMs and their environmental and biological impact.
The main topics put forward are:
– Characterization of Ad-NMs and nano and microplastics (NMPs), to dispel any secret they may hold hidden in their structural properties.
– Optimization and Development of methods, to make workflows, well, flow better.
– Grouping and Read-Across approaches, to categorize the Ad-NMs and predict their hazards on the environment and living organisms.
We are working hard to generate the interoperable standard for safe-by-design Ad-NMs and for the secure and quick commercialization of Nanotechnology-enabled Products.
